The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a doctoral degree programme mainly designed for senior managers and leaders across all industries; private, public and non-profit. Students will engage in applied research, where cutting-edge academic theoretical understanding is combined with industry-based knowledge in order to solve practical organizational issues.

The HBS DBA programme will equip future leaders and entrepreneurs with the latest and advanced knowledge on every major facet of leading an organization, including Leadership, Human Capital Management, Digital Marketing and many others. As students go through the programme, they will gain a deep understanding of these facets, which will be valuable to them in managing their own organisation upon their graduation from the programme.

i  i. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate;

OR

ii. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience***** and rigorous internal assessment****;

OR

iii. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses******;

OR

iv. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) recognised by the Malaysian Government.

 

Rigorous assessment to evaluate the suitability of an applicant for a programme through statement of purpose, interview and other methods may cover the following criteria:
 

i. Demonstration of strong business experience, and that you have held significant managerial responsibilities.
ii. Evidence of any achievements in your professional life, for example, consistently performing at a high level, consistent career progression and any impact that you have had on your organisation.
iii. Professional skills that you have developed, for example, team work, leadership, problem-solving, negotiating and analytical skills.
iv. How you will contribute to your class and what experiences you can bring to the institution.

Experience can be cumulative experience even before acquiring required qualification for a particular level of study. However, the experience must be relevant to the level of study as well as the content.

The pre-requisite courses must equip the students with necessary business knowledge (managing people, managing financial resources, understanding customers, understanding environments and strategic planning) of one level lower than the programme level.

 

English Language Requirements for International Students

The necessary level of competency of English is defined as ONE (1) of the following:
TOEFL level of PBT 550 / iBT 80 or IELTS level of 6.0 or MUET Band 4 OR its equivalent as approved by the Senate.
