Entrepreneurship

The Ph.D programme at HBS centres on research-based entrepreneurial activities, including research clinics and symposia addressing current issues in entrepreneurship, business, and management.

These are aimed at encouraging the PhD. students to generate new knowledge and solutions related to the latest set of global problems faced by businesses, including technological disruptions, sustainability and many others.

The HBS DBA will open up various career paths for students in entrepreneurship, business, and academia. Some possible career prospects after the HBS DBA include:

Course Structure

PhD candidate are required to take audit subject / workshop in addition to their thesis paper. The relevant audit subject / workshop are useful to guide their research work. These are normally in order to allow the candidate to acquire sufficient knowledge and skills so that she/he could carry out the research in the most effective manner and within the time limit.

Entry Requirement

Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Management

i. A Master’s degree in a business or related field as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
ii. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree as accepted by the HEP Senate.

Note:
For Doctoral Degree by Research as stated in the MQA Standards: Master’s and Doctoral Degree:

i. There shall be no direct entry from Bachelor’s Degree level to Doctoral Degree level.
ii. However, candidates with Bachelor’s Degree qualification, registered for Master’s Degree by Research programmes may apply to convert their candidacy to Doctoral Degree programmes.
iii. Application of conversion must be done within one year after candidate registers for Master’s Degree programmes.
iii. Application approval is subject to:

a) having shown competency and capability in conducting research at Doctoral degree level;
b) rigorous internal assessment by the HEP; and
c) approval by the HEP Senate.

English Language Requirements

All reports, examinations, and thesis are to be written in English. As such, all candidates are expected to have an appropriated level of competency in the English language. The applicant shall produce a certificate stating his/her English Language competency level.
The necessary level of competency of English is defined as ONE (1) of the following:
TOEFL level of 650 or IELTS level of 6.0 or its equivalent as approved by the senate.
