On March 13, 2025, dental professionals gathered at Haniffa Business School, MAHSA Avenue, Kuala Lumpur, for an insightful session on Digital Implantology & CAD/CAM Implant Dentistry as part of Urban Vision @ HBS. The session, led by Dr. Lee Soon Boon, explored the latest advancements in digital workflows and their transformative impact on modern implant dentistry.
The Role of CAD/CAM in Implant Dentistry
Dr. Lee highlighted the significance of CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology in dental implantology. This cutting-edge approach is revolutionizing the field by enhancing precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes. He emphasized the importance of digital workflows, demonstrating how CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) and intraoral scanning enable highly accurate diagnostics and treatment planning.
From Virtual Planning to Precision Execution
One of the key takeaways from the session was the power of digital workflows in modern implant procedures. Dr. Lee elaborated on virtual implant planning and guided surgery, which allow for more accurate and predictable outcomes. Additionally, he explored how 3D printing and milling technologies are transforming implant restorations, enabling the creation of custom-made implant abutments and frameworks that surpass conventional methods in terms of accuracy, efficiency, and patient comfort.
The Future of Digital Dentistry: AI & Robotics
The session also delved into the exciting advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotic-assisted implant surgery. AI-driven innovations are streamlining treatment planning and automation, paving the way for increased precision and efficiency in dental procedures. Dr. Lee introduced robot-assisted implant technology, including Neocis’ Yomi, the first FDA-cleared robotic system for dental implant placement. This innovation represents a major leap forward in the field, improving predictability and minimizing surgical risks.
Shaping the Future of Implant Dentistry
The event provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of how digital implantology is shaping the future of dentistry. From AI-driven diagnostics to robot-assisted precision surgeries, the field is evolving rapidly, and embracing these technologies will be crucial in ensuring better patient care and clinical success.
A special thank you to Dr. Lee Soon Boon for his expertise and insights, and to all attendees who joined us in exploring the future of digital dentistry!
