Dr. Sarvambika shared how dentistry has evolved from basic tooth repairĀ into a comprehensive, multidisciplinary field that connects oral health with overall systemic health. She highlighted the shift towards managing mucosal lesions, infections, orofacial pain, and oral manifestations of systemic diseases through coordinated collaboration.
She emphasised the science of dentistryāanatomy, pathology, microbiology, biomaterials, radiology, and digital technologies such as CAD/CAM, 3D printing, laser dentistry, and digital imaging, all enhancing precision and predictable outcomes.
Alongside science, she highlighted the art of dentistry: communication, clinical judgment, creativity in treatment planning, and building trust with patients. Together, art and science create harmony in treatment outcomes.
Dr. Sarvambika also introduced hospital-based dentistry, covering Oral MedicineĀ (mucosal lesions, ulcers, infections, orofacial pain, systemic disease manifestations) and Oral PathologyĀ (biopsy analysis, grossing, reporting, frozen sections).
She discussed the move from traditional microscopy to digital pathology, enabling virtual slide viewing, teleconsultation, remote reporting, teaching, and future integration with AI for enhanced diagnostic accuracy.
