On the 4th of June 2022, Haniffa Business School hosted the 2nd Distinguished Leaders Series talk for 2022, where we had YBhg. Dato’ Sri Syed Hussien Al Habshee, Chairman of SME Corp to deliver his talk titled “The Role of SME Corp. Malaysia in Preparing SMEs for the Future”.
Dato’ Sri Syed Hussien Al Habshee is currently the Chairman of SME Corp. Malaysia and a Member of the Board of Governors of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He was previously also the Chairman of Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP). In the talk, he explained that SME Corp. Malaysia, a development agency that is tasked to drive the growth & transformation of Malaysian SMEs, is committed to assisting these
businesses as they were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This assistance is in the form of touchpoint-related services, financial assistance, and funds disbursements. He also touched on the importance of having strong and healthy MSMEs businesses in driving the growth of the Malaysian economy, as 97.4% of business establishments in Malaysia are MSMEs.
Overall, the talk was a vibrant and engaging session, as seen from the questions that were asked by students from the Business Faculty in the Q&A session. We thank YBhg. Dato’ Sri Syed Hussien Al Habshee for delivering an intellectually stimulating lecture at Haniffa Business School.
